On the night of April 21st, 1956, while a group of ladies were waiting for their husbands
to founded.
The goal of the Fresno-Kings Counties Cowbells, a non-profit organization later renamed
FRESNO-KINGS COUNTIES CATTLEWOMEN, is to promote friendship and better
public relations for the cattle and agricultural industries, to educate the public about the
benefits of beef and beef by-products, and to assist and cooperate with both the
Cattlemen's and Cattlewomen's Associations on the County , State, and National Levels.
Throughout the years, the organization has done much to achieve these goals by
education students in the classroom and on the ranch, providing scholarships for
ag-oriented students, doing cooking demonstrations at fairs, providing recipes to the
consumer and, in general, presenting the Beef Industry in a favorable light.
The Fresno-Kings Counties CattleWomen are always looking for more ladies to get
involved in the promotion of beef and the issues facing the industry. Ranching is
becoming a scarce commodity.
Our membership includes ladies that lead an active life of ranching, along with ladies who
are not directly involved in the industry, but feel the importance of supporting and learning
more about the industry.
Fresno-Kings Counties Cattlewomen, is a non-profit organization who teaches our
community about the importance of agriculture and nutrition. We support our future
leaders by supporting organizations like Future Farmers of America, 4H Clubs and the
Fresno District Fair's Champion Club.; as well as supporting and informing future
business leaders, government officals and upstanding citizens of our communities through
the number of organizations we assist and educate. We also participate in our local
community, such as, the Clovis Rodeo Blood Drive, but most importantly, annually giving
an excess of $5,000 in scholarships to hard working aspiring students local area students
going on into an agriculture related fields.
